Maintain Your Pool’s Water Level

Proper Water Level is Important. poolbutlertx.com

Is the water level half way up your pool’s filter/skimmer opening?

Maintaining your pool’s water level may be one of the most important parts to keeping your pool operating as it should.

Here comes those legendary long, hot, sunny Texas summer days… Your pool becomes a focal point –  the crystal-clear, refreshing private oasis you look forward to just outside your door.

Maintaining your pool’s water level not only contributes to more consistently clean, clear water – it also plays an important role in helping your pool’s systems run more efficiently and effectively.

Keeping your pool’s water at the proper level is easy to do. Here’s how:

Check your pool’s water level every few days

The typical residential pool’s water level can drop up to 1.5 inches or more per week. If you enjoy a lot of splishy, splashy fun, it can be even more.

OK, how do I check it?

Good question; easy answer!

  1. Take a look at the filter inlets of your pool. An easy rule of thumb is that the water level should always be at least half way up the opening of the inlet for your filter/”skimmer”.
  2. If the water level is below half way, simply put your garden hose in the pool, turn on the water and monitor until it’s at the proper level. Be sure to not leave the water on too long…that just wastes water.

THAT’S IT…THAT’S REALLY ALL IT TAKES FROM YOU!!!

OK…why is proper water level so important?

Simply put, proper water level helps ensure that there is sufficient water to be processed by your pool’s circulation and filtration systems. And that makes all the difference…

What happens if I don’t maintain the water level properly?

A proper supply of water is pretty much the “lifeblood” of your entire pool system:

* It drives your pool’s filtration system to eliminate dirt, debris, etc.

* It is the key to proper circulating not only fresh water, but it is also core to the water heating system for your pool and/or hot tub.

* Water level drives the filtration and circulation systems that are key to maintaining your pool’s proper chemical balances.

* The regular cleaning services that Pool Butler provides rely upon proper water levels. For example, our pool vacuuming service is driven by your pool’s filtration system.

* Prolonged or frequent improper water levels ultimately stress your pool’s pumping, filtration and other systems – and that can lead to premature breakdown and costly repairs.

What happens if I keep adding water but can’t seem to maintain the proper water level?

* If you have a larger pool, lots of splashing, and/or a lot of direct sun all day long, keep in mind that you may need to add water more frequently.
